The Holiday

An adventure holiday of a spiritual kind!

A combination of beautiful scenery and Umbrian and Le Marche towns. A historical as well as spiritual approach to retracing where St Francis walked and talked. An unusual break for a minimum of 4 days and stay as long as you wish. Come on your own,or with a partner or a friend. Perhaps you would like to form a small group. I like to limit it to four or five people.

This is a personal service. A holiday adaptable to your needs and wishes.

Accomodation is in the beautiful, recently renovated and spectacularly situated priest house and Church of St Michael belonging to JMichael himself. A comfortable villa nestling in the Sybillini mountains with wonderful views and splendid interiors.

The accommodation - the Church of St Michael

There will be talks and discussions about St Francis and his beliefs. There will be time to work on each guest's own spiritual development. Group meditations if required. Films and talks on this amazing little man and his effect on the world then and now. Not dry as dust................. a real exploration of his world and life.

The whole atmosphere will be fun. The holiday will include trips taken from the following list. Assisi, Perugia, Spoleto, Gubbio and San Severino, Marche. All you have to do is get here!

Pricing:

The price of €150 per day per person to include bed, breakfast and evening meals. Transport from airport or local railway station and all transport to the selected locations for the trips selected.

The places
  • Assis the picturesque town where it all started. See the medieval town recently renovated and perfectly preserved.
  • The beautiful Porziuncola chapel with its amazing energy and dramatic wall paintings.

The Porzuincola Chapel

  • The church of San Damiano where the crucifix spoke to St Francis and God asked him to GO AND REPAIR MY HOUSE His great friend St Clare formed a women's group in this building. It is still a working monastery.
  • The hermitage called the Carceri where St Francis spent many hours of contemplation. An incredible building with beautiful views of the Vale of Spoleto.

The Carceri hermitage

  • The Basilica San Francesco built after his death with frescos by Giotto and containing the tomb and remains of the 'Little Man' himself. A life must-see.

The Basilica San Francesco

  • Gubbio where St Francis fled after renouncing his worldly and wild former life. This is where he tamed the wolf and saved the locals from being vandalised!
  • Spoleto where St Francis has a most important dream and where to this day is preserved a letter he sent to brother Leo.

There are many others to visit if there is time!
